CHICAGO — The Chicago area was hit hard by storms Friday night that prompted several warnings.
A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Cook, DuPage and Kane counties until 10:15 p.m.
The storm carried heavy rainfall and powerful winds, uprooting several trees in Glencoe.
“Oh heavens, you couldn’t even see it on the street, it was pretty intense,” a Glencoe man said.
In Sleepy Hollow, power poles were snapped in half. Fire crews had to deal with falling chimneys in Wilmette.
No injuries have been reported due to the storms.
Chicago landscape photographer Barry Butler captured some terrific photos of lightning and rainbows converging downtown.
ComEd said its working to restore power to about 27,000 customers after the weather.
