Police: Male shot, killed on inbound Eisenhower near downtown Friday

CHICAGO – All eastbound lanes of I-290 at Canal street were closed for hours Friday due to a deadly expressway shooting.

At around 1:30 p.m., authorities were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of I-290 at Canal Street on the report of a shooting.

Authorities said a male was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the shooting. All eastbound lanes were closed at Canal Street as a result of the investigation. They reopened just after 5:30 p.m.

Expressway shootings are substantial up in 2020. Illinois State Police said this was the 112th expressway shooting of the year.
