Fire spreads to 2 buildings on West Side
Several families were displaced but luckily no injuries were reported after a fire raced through two homes early Wednesday morning in Humboldt Park.
The fire erupted about 7 a.m. in the 600 block of North Saint Louis Avenue and spread to a second home, Chicago Fire Department officials said. By 7:10 a.m., the fire was extinguished, fire department spokesperson Larry Langford said.
No injuries were reported, but several families were displaced after the buildings sustained damage from the blaze, fire officials said.

Fire spreads to 2 buildings on West Side
Windows from both homes were shattered and the rear porches of one of the homes were completely destroyed.
“There is substantial damage to both buildings, but they are masonry buildings so they’re still standing,” Langford said. “Roofs are intact.”
The fire was first seen burning on rear porches and the cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
Residents inside the homes evacuated on their own, according to fire officials.
“People were up, awake [and] alert,” Langford said.
